I like Digg but would like to see a site that pulls the top articles from the NY Times and other newspapers sites—the most emailed articles from a wide range of newspapers, perhaps broken down into categories. Maybe there’s a site that does this already? But I usually scan the front page of the NY Times and then look to see the most emailed articles, and find some great ones. This article for instance, I think found a life of its own on a number of occasions. Becoming a viral article that moved up and down the most emailed list a few times: NY Times article
‘AS I wash dishes at the kitchen sink, my husband paces behind me, irritated. “Have you seen my keys?” he snarls, then huffs out a loud sigh and stomps from the room with our dog, Dixie, at his heels, anxious over her favorite human’s upset.
In the past I would have been right behind Dixie. I would have turned off the faucet and joined the hunt while trying to soothe my husband with bromides like, “Don’t worry, they’ll turn up.” But that only made him angrier, and a simple case of missing keys soon would become a full-blown angst-ridden drama starring the two of us and our poor nervous dog.
Now, I focus on the wet dish in my hands. I don’t turn around. I don’t say a word. I’m using a technique I learned from a dolphin trainer.’
I site called mostemailed.com which is essentially like digg.com but with categories based on their sources, demographics….
I’d also like to create a service type of site that sends articles to visitors based upon their esoteric wants or their passions let’s say. I see this happening with Digg clones for specific niches, whether it’s a site for the NBA and news surrounding basketball but I’d like to see Digg expand this on their site, where you could track the most popular pages or articles on certain portals, newspapers, magazines, and so on.
Google news offers an option where you can select a company or brand that you want to get news on. It then automatically updates your personalized homepage with content related to that theme.
[...] Many soldiers come back and then return back to the war they were just fighting in. Amazingly, they don’t want to leave their friends and other soldiers. I think this is related to doing something we’re afraid of, and once we do it, we feel proud and happy that we did it. Maybe it’s finding something to do that challenges us on a regular basis. I always think of doctors, and their immediate impact on others. When someone is sick they are desperate for help, and may die if they don’t get it. I guess what I’m getting at is how do we find that something we like to do that receives applause, helps others and therefore makes us feel better, and also challenges us. I think I could link back to a few other posts that take about his, finding your passion and the viral articles that move people.
